The ENGSO EU Advisory Committee (EU AC), in collaboration with the European Esports Federation (EEF), is organising a webinar titled Understanding Esports: Opportunities and Challenges for Grassroots Sport. Taking place on 28 May at 14:00 CET, the session will feature EEF Vice President Karol Cagan and other representatives, who will introduce key concepts, present the current state of play, and highlight both challenges and opportunities in grassroots esports. The webinar aims to deepen understanding of this emerging field and lay the groundwork for exploring synergies between traditional grassroots sport and esports

Karol Cagan
Acting President of the European Esports Federation (EEF)
Karol Cagan serves as Acting President of the European Esports Federation (EEF), where he is the only board member continuously present since its inception in February 2020. His vision is dedicated to creating a strong and united esports ecosystem in Europe.
With a passion for esports since 2014, Karol has been a driving force in Slovakia, organizing tournaments and leagues that engaged local fans and built community spirit. His business development expertise has attracted major brands like Kia, Kaufland, Coca-Cola, and Orange to invest in esports, showcasing his ability to bridge gaming and commercial success. To this day, he serves as the founding president of the Slovak Esports Association. Beyond esports, Karol is committed to education, volunteering as a sales instructor for university students and lecturing on growth and personal development for youth, empowering the next generation.
