The 2022 edition of the European Week of Sport kicked off in Prague, Czech Republic
The European Week of Sport is the annual initiative of the European Commission to promote active and healthier lifestyles to millions of people in Europe and beyond. The 2022 edition kicked off on September 23, in Prague, Czech Republic.
Day before the European Commission’s Opening of the European Week of Sport, the Conference on Sustainable and Accessible Sports Infrastructure, organised by the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU was held (on September 22).
ENGSO Secretary General Sara Massini, ENGSO EU Advisory Committee Chair Theo Neyenhuis, ENGSO Youth (EY) Chair Ugne Chmeliauskaitė, EY Vice Chair Filip Filipić, and EY Policy and Projects Manager Tiago Guilherme attended both events.
Theo Neyenhuis led the first session of the Czech Presidency Conference on Sustainable and Accessible Sports Infrastructure, which discussed the importance of equal accessibility to sports infrastructure for all.
ENGSO Youth team participated in the #HealthyLifestyle4All Youth Ideas Lab which was the highlight topic of this year’s Opening. On September 22, after the Conference on Sustainable and Accessible Sports Infrastructure, Ugne Chmeliauskaitė moderated the #HealthyLifestyle4All seminar, with Filip Filipič and ENGSO Youth Young Delegate Marianna Pikul joining for the discussion on strengthening promotion and raising awareness of the healthy lifestyle.
ENGSO is a longtime supporter and partner of the European Week of Sport, and joins the movement each year with an event that promotes and supports the grassroots sport in Europe.
2022 is no different. The highlight of the week will be the “#BeActive for Sport Integrity” event which is organised in partnership with The European Lotteries, and will take place on September 29, in Brussels, Belgium. The event will focus on young people and their potential to lead towards a positive change, and promote the values of integrity within the European sports sector.
