Strengthening the resilience of the sports movement: SURE Project updates

Since the kick-off meeting in the Azores, the SURE project team has made significant strides across key areas, as evidenced in the partner meetings. Below is a summary of the major developments achieved in 2024:

Project Management Sustainability Policy

The Project Management Sustainability Policy, initially proposed by FSI before the kick-off meeting, underwent thorough review and refinement. Partner discussions emphasised the importance of offsetting CO₂ emissions, particularly from long-distance travel, through initiatives such as supporting local communities and non-profits. After incorporating partner suggestions, the policy was finalised successfully, marking a critical step toward sustainability in project management.

Sure Project Updates On Development

Template for Collecting Good Practices

OPES introduced a draft template for collecting and sharing good practices. Partners provided constructive feedback, resulting in a finalized and dissemination-ready template. This initiative is designed to document and share actionable strategies, benefiting target groups across the project’s priority areas.

Survey on Cooperation Models

Building on discussions from the kick-off meeting and subsequent online sessions, OPES presented a detailed overview of the survey on cooperation models. This research aims to:
  • Strengthen the resilience of the sports movement.
  • Foster the inclusion of vulnerable groups, enabling their ongoing participation in sport and physical activity, even during crises.
The survey has now been finalised and is ready for use by public institutions and sports organisations.

Interviews with Target Groups

100% Sport outlined the objectives and methodology for conducting interviews with vulnerable target groups. These interviews aim to gather critical insights into the needs and experiences of these groups, forming the foundation for the WP4 deliverable: the Digital Portraits Gallery.

To ensure impactful storytelling, partners agreed on a photo + quote format for the gallery, blending visual elements with personal narratives. The interview template has been translated into all partner languages, and data collection is set to commence.

Next Steps

At the year’s final meeting, NOC Croatia shared their proposal for a cooperation model, which will be tested by partners during 2025 and 2026. With all deliverables under Work Package 2 finalized, 2025 will focus on data collection using the developed research tools.

The next in-person project meeting is scheduled to take place in the Netherlands, with the exact date to be confirmed. Monthly online meetings will continue in the interim, ensuring ongoing collaboration and progress.

This year’s achievements highlight the collective dedication of the project team and set the foundation for impactful outcomes in the remaining two years of the project.
