Season’s greetings from ENGSO: message from the president

Dear members, partners, and friends,

As we look ahead to 2026, I would like to pause and reflect on the year behind us. The past twelve months have been marked by significant growth, fresh developments, and many achievements that we reached together. It has truly been a remarkable year for ENGSO.

One of the key milestones of 2025 was the appointment of our new Secretary General, Theo Neyehuis. With his extensive professional background at NOC*NSF and his deep understanding of the European sport landscape, he brings valuable expertise and renewed dynamism to ENGSO. I would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to all our committees, the Executive Committee, the EWS (Equality Within Sport) Committee, the EU Advisory Committee, and the ENGSO Youth Committee, for their commitment, ideas, and active involvement throughout the year. Your work remains essential to our collective mission and development.

A highlight of the year was the inspiring European Sport Platform in Barcelona, hosted by our associated member UFEC – the Sports Federation Union of Catalonia. The warm welcome and vibrant exchange of perspectives made this event a memorable conclusion to 2025. My appreciation goes to UFEC and to every member, partner, and friend who joined us in October.

I also want to acknowledge the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports, who hosted an excellent General Assembly in Oslo this June. During the Assembly, we welcomed a new member organisation, re-elected Executive Committee members, and recognised committee members and long-standing partners for their dedication and unwavering support of ENGSO.

A special expression of gratitude goes to our long-time partner, The European Lotteries, whose steadfast support continues to strengthen grassroots sport across Europe. Your contribution plays a decisive role in fostering inclusive, vibrant, and resilient communities.

My thanks also go to our project partners and to the entire ENGSO staff team. Your commitment to advancing grassroots sport and ensuring that it remains visible and valued within the European policy landscape has been instrumental to our success. The impact of your work is felt widely and meaningfully.

As we step into 2026, I wish you a year filled with progress, inspiration, and renewed purpose. Thank you for being an essential part of ENGSO’s journey and for your continued dedication to grassroots sport in Europe.
