ReWSE partners meet in Dublin for the partners meeting and workshop on women’s sport events
Ahead of International Women’s Day 2026, from 4–6 March 2026, partners of the ReWSE project gathered in Dublin, Ireland, for a partner meeting and training workshop focused on highlighting and connecting women’s sports events across Europe.
The event kicked off on Thursday, 4 March, with a warm welcome from the hosts, Irish Wheelchair Association Sport. The meeting brought together the project coordinator ASSIST, along with partner organisations Alice Milliat Foundation, VIDC, and ENGSO.
Following discussions on project updates, partners reviewed the development of key project outputs, including the digital map, toolkit, and online course. They also outlined the workshop programme ahead of the opening session, which took place later that evening.
During the evening session, project partners were joined by representatives of sports organisations and event leaders from Ireland, Italy, Austria, and France. The gathering created an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas, gain new knowledge, and share insights on organising, developing, and promoting sports events for women.
The workshop continued on Friday with in-depth presentations focused on sustainability, accessibility, and networking, all aimed at strengthening the connection and visibility of women’s sports events across Europe. Participants also discussed the challenges they face at local and national levels, with many highlighting funding and the long-term sustainability of local events as key concerns.
The workshop concluded on a high note, with participants enjoying a lively wheelchair basketball game — a moment filled with fun, energy, and teamwork. A special thank you goes to Irish Wheelchair Association Sport for the warm welcome and for hosting such a valuable and inspiring workshop.
About the ReWSE Project
ReWSE – Reinforcing Women’s Sports Events in Europe is a collaborative partnership addressing one of the key priorities of the Erasmus+ Programme: “Inclusion and diversity in all fields of education, training, youth and sport.”
More specifically, the project contributes to the sport priority “Promoting equality and European values in and through sport – Equality in sport, including gender equality.” ReWSE aims to increase the equality, sustainability, visibility, and inclusivity of women’s sports events across Europe.
The project builds on the results of the previous EWSE (European Women Sport Events) project, which identified and analysed common challenges faced by women’s sports events. The research highlighted significant gaps between women’s and men’s sporting events in terms of visibility, investment, and institutional support.
ReWSE seeks to expand and innovate upon these earlier results. One of its key initiatives is the further development of a digital map of women’s sports events in Europe, designed to connect organisers, increase visibility, and support the growth of more events and participation across the continent.
What’s next?
The partners will finalise the online course and the educational toolkit, and begin preparations for a series of networking events that will take place during the European Sport Platform 2026 in Split, Croatia, in October 2026.
