EU Advisory Committee meets in Vienna

Working on a strategic level, the EU Advisory Committee advices the ENGSO Executive Committee on EU and policy matters. With the involvement of ENGSO members, their expertise and their experience, the EU Advisory Committee contributes to the drafting of position papers as well as proposals on legislations and regulations of current interest.

Alongside two eventful General Assembly days in Vienna, the EU Advisory Committee seized the opportunity to organise an in-person meeting on 14 June. The Committee had a lively exchange on a number of issues pertaining to EU affairs: European Parliament elections, ENGSO’s initiative to this end, sustainability, e-sports, and integrity.

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT ELECTIONS, ENGSO’s CAMPAIGN TO MPs, SUSTAINABILITY AND INTEGRITY WERE THE MAIN TOPICS DISCUSSED DURING THE LAST MEETING IN VIENNA.

The results of the European Parliament elections from each country were briefly reviewed, and it was approved to implement ENGSO’s campaign to promote a stronger sports policy at the EU level. The campaign aims to reach out to newly elected Members of the European Parliament and bring to their attention the importance of sports. Hence, together with member organisations, a video featuring athletes from diverse backgrounds will be developed and shared on various media channels.

Two ongoing topics of interest, namely sustainability and e-sports, were elaborated in terms of defining the objectives and timeline for producing outputs. Later this year, two workshops or webinars will be organised on the topics of sustainability and
e-sports, aiming to deepen the knowledge of member organisations in the respective fields.
