ENGSO speaks about the partnership with The European Lotteries at the "Lotteries in Europe" event
The "Lotteries in Europe" event, hosted by the The Belgian National Lottery and ENGSO’s longtime partner The European Lotteries, took place on 18-19 April 2024, in Brussels, Belgium. ENGSO joined the event with the aim of presenting the value of the long-term partnership with European Lotteries in strengthening the grassroots sport in Europe for the benefits of society based on values of democracy, equality, inclusion, sustainability, integrity and education.
ENGSO Secretary General Sara Massini and ENGSO EU Advisory Committee Chair Theo Neyenhuis were the guest speakers in the session entitled “Testimonials from the Beneficiaries of Lottery Funding: Open Discussion”.
During the panel, the beneficiaries were asked their opinion on partnering lotteries in their program and why they thought it would make sense to continue the work together.
The ENGSO Secretary General confirmed the great added value that the partnership with European Lotteries brings to grassroots sport communities and suggested to not only continue communicating the importance of the lotteries at the national level in sports but in general to society by increasing the communication strategies both from lotteries and beneficiaries side.
Among the most important joint work done by ENGSO and The European Lotteries, the recently concluded project “Youth Integrity Ambassadors Programme” united both organisations under a common mission of promoting and protecting the integrity and values, such as fair play, democracy, good governance and equality, in sport. Youth Integrity Ambassadors Programme empowered 36 young people from all over Europe which led to 3 international events, several policy and educational outputs, and 12 national events and campaigns, all having a common goal to champion sport integrity within European sport.
Earlier this year, ENGSO and The European Lotteries reaffirmed the continuation of a successful collaboration between the two organisations with the aim to strengthen the grassroots sport in Europe. The renewed agreement supports the mutually beneficial collaboration in line with each organisation’s strategies and the common goal of strengthening the grassroots sport in Europe for the benefits of society based on values of democracy, equality, inclusion, sustainability, integrity and education.
ENGSO would like to thank our longtime partner The European Lotteries (EL) for the invitation and the opportunity to present the value of our collaboration and joint work in the field of sport integrity, values in sport and grassroots sport for stronger communities.
The cooperation to ensure integrity values in sport communities doesn’t stop here: new joint activities with The European Lotteries are planned for 2024, stay tuned.
