ENGSO shares grassroots sport perspective at European Parliament’s stakeholder dialogue on European Sport Model
Today, on 18 March 2025, ENGSO Secretary General Sara Massini presented the grassroots sport perspective during the European Parliament’s stakeholder dialogue for the CULT Report on the topic of The Role of EU Policies in Shaping the European Sport Model.
In her speech, she outlined two key recommendations for strengthening the European Sport Model:
Keeping grassroots sport at the heart of the European Sport Model – ensuring support and solidarity for sports clubs, so they benefit from funding schemes that are create fair, concrete, and credible solidarity schemes to redistribute funds to grassroots sport clubs, helping them attract and retain participants, staff and most importantly volunteers that are so crucial for the whole organised sport movement.
Enhancing and strengthening dialogue between sport and decision-makers – establishing a stable EU Sport Dialogue that ensures discussions flow from the EU level through national structures to the grassroots level and back.
These recommendations from ENGSO aim to reinforce the European Sport Model by keeping grassroots sport at its core, supporting grassroots sports clubs, and improving dialogue between sport and policymakers.
