ENGSO joins The European Lotteries for the “Protecting minors online: a shared responsibility” event
On 5 February 2025, in Brussels, Belgium, ENGSO’s longtime partner The European Lotteries organised an event titled Protecting Minors Online: A Shared Responsibility. The event, held in the European Parliament, brought together EU decision-makers, industry leaders, and key stakeholders to discuss the growing impact of digital platforms on young users and the necessary measures to ensure a safer and fairer online environment. ENGSO was represented by its Secretary General, Sara Massini, who actively participated in the event.
The seminar highlighted the urgent need for robust regulation and enforcement to counter manipulative digital strategies that specifically target minors. Experts emphasised the importance of coordinated efforts between policymakers and industry leaders to establish stronger safeguards.
EL and its members strongly advocate for the implementation of comprehensive age verification systems, responsible advertising practices, and educational campaigns aimed at protecting minors from the potential dangers of online gambling. More details on EL’s stance can be found in their Manifesto and associated Position Papers.
