ENGSO joins consultation about the opinion on building a values-based, bottom-up European sports model

The consultation about the opinion on "Building a values-based, bottom-up European sports model: a vehicle for encouraging inclusion and social wellbeing among young Europeans”, organised by the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) - Commission for Social Policy, Education, Employment, Research and Culture, took place on Monday, 10 July 2023.

This opinion aims to contribute to further recognising Sport as a public policy instrument and a driving force for the community, with its social aspect and economic and employment importance being a distinguished feature that will shape the establishment of a new European model for sport. The organisers highlighted that the European Year of Skills (2023) is the right time to address this evolving conception of the subject and to shape its contours.


The rapporteur of the opinion is Mr Roberto Pella (IT/EPP), Mayor of Valdengo, together with his expert, Ms Chiara Spinato. 


The goal of the consultation was to exchange views on the relevant topics of this opinion to gather the different points of view and discuss the main issues. Among the entities who attended the consultation EOC, UEFA, FESI and ENGSO.


ENGSO Secretary General Sara Massini participated in the meeting online and presented good practices from ENGSO members and added an opinion and recommendations based on ENGSO position about the European Sport Model. Specifically focused on the importance on supporting and integrating organised sport into all the interventions promoting active lifestyle for European citizens.
