ENGSO Executive Committee meets in Bratislava, hosted by the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee

From 17–18 September 2026, the ENGSO Executive Committee (ExCom) met in Bratislava, Slovakia, for its regular meeting. The meeting was hosted by ENGSO member the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee.

 

Led by ENGSO President Stefan Bergh, the meeting began with a welcome session hosted by Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee Secretary General Jozef Liba and Head of International Relations Petra Gantnerova. On Friday, the ExCom also had the opportunity to meet with Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee President Anton Siekel.

The meeting covered a range of topics related to ENGSO’s ongoing work and operations. ExCom has initiated the process of developing a new strategy for ENGSO for the period 2028–2031. The strategy will be presented for adoption at the 2027 ENGSO General Assembly. 

One of the key items on the agenda was a feedback session on the development of a new ENGSO communication strategy. The ExCom also discussed preparations for the upcoming European Sport Platform, member engagement, and future events and activities.

 

The meeting was attended in person by ENGSO President Stefan Bergh and ExCom members Romana Caput-Jogunica (Croatian Olympic Committee), Filip Filipić (Olympic Committee of Serbia), Magnus Sverdrup (Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports), Anna-Maria Wiesner (Sport Austria), Thomas Bach (National Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation of Denmark), Tarja Krum (EWS Chair), Luca Wernert (ENGSO Youth Acting Chair), and ENGSO Secretary General Theo Neyenhuis. ENGSO Vice President Filipa Godinho (Portuguese Sports Confederation), ExCom member Stanislav Horuna (Sports Committee of Ukraine), and ENGSO Office Director Marie Dennitton joined the meeting online. ENGSO Communications Manager Polona Fonda also participated in person during the first part of the meeting.
