ENGSO Executive Committee appoints new Secretary General
Starting on 27 October 2025, the new ENGSO Secretary General will assume office.
Sara Massini has announced that she will be stepping down from her position as Secretary General of ENGSO. She has decided to reduce her working hours and will therefore focus on her role as Head of International Affairs at OPES — the Italian sports promotion body and a member of CONI.
Starting on 27 October 2025, Theo Neyenhuis, currently serving as Senior Advisor for Public Affairs at NOC*NSF (Netherlands), will assume the position of Secretary General of ENGSO.
Statement from ENGSO President Stefan Bergh:
Sara Massini has served as Secretary General for five years and her contribution to ENGSO’s development has been substantial. Under her professional leadership we have been able to reach out to new stakeholders, developed our project activities, launched new events like the European Sport Platform, and established a strong and comprehensive advocacy work.
Theo Neyenhuis is a senior leader. He has been the Chair of the ENGSO EU Advocacy Committee and is – together with the vast professional experience from NOC*NSF – familiar with the European sport landscape. I am convinced that he will continue to drive the ENGSO work in the positive direction that his predecessor has started.
