ENGSO EU Advisory Committee 2025: fostering productive collaboration with the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU

The EU Advisory Committee (EU AC) has entered the New Year with ambitious goals and important work ahead. Currently, the Committee is focused on fostering productive collaboration with the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU.

As part of this partnership, the EU AC supports the Polish Presidency’s efforts in sports education by sharing its expertise and participating in relevant policy discussions.

The Committee is also committed to engaging with other priorities of the Polish Presidency in the field of sport, including addressing declining fitness levels among children and youth and promoting sport as a tool for physical and mental health through cross-sectoral initiatives.

A parallel priority for the EU Advisory Committee is to take significant steps in advancing discussions on e-sports. Over the past few years, e-sports has gained increasing popularity among both the general public and sports policymakers. Recognising the importance of this emerging phenomenon, the Committee aims to address its potential challenges and opportunities. To this end, a webinar featuring leading policy experts in the field will be held in March to tackle pressing questions and provide valuable insights for stakeholders.

The conclusion of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU will coincide with the end of the current EU AC’s mandate. By July 2025, the Committee’s members will officially complete their term and decide whether to stand for re-election. The new Committee, selected from nominated candidates within the ENGSO membership, will begin its work in August 2025, serving a two-year term.
