On 23 June, celebrated worldwide as Olympic Day, the European sport community gathered in Brussels for the #BeActive EU Sport Awards Ceremony. The event was hosted by the Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport, Glenn Micallef, and officially opened by Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen, Director-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC).
ENGSO was represented by Office Director Marie Denitton, Communications Manager Polona Fonda, and Projects Officer Ophélie Delobel.
Following the announcement of the #BeActive EU Sport Awards in 2025, the 15 finalists were recognised at the beginning of 2026. The awards build on the success of the past #BeActive Awards and #BeInclusive EU Sport Awards celebrating outstanding commitments.
They also celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals, sport organisations, and stakeholders who have successfully promoted sport and physical activity across Europe through inspiring projects and initiatives.
The #BeActive EU Sport Awards are a key part of the European Week of Sport and the #BeActive campaign, which was officially launched during the ceremony. The awards recognise and celebrate the contributions of sport organisations and individuals in promoting inclusion, equity, active lifestyles, and the shared values of the European Union. They also provide a platform for showcasing best practices and highlighting inspiring initiatives that demonstrate the positive impact of sport across Europe.
