Connecting, Learning and Empowering: Equality Within Sport Mentoring Programme Kicks Off
The Equality Within Sport – Mentoring Programme, organised by ENGSO’s EWS Committee, kicked off virtually on 21 September 2026. Running from September 2026 to May 2027, this programme is supported by the adidas Foundation and builds on the GEIN programme’s experience. The programme brings together 20 participants from across Europe, including 5 mentors and 15 mentees.
This diverse group of European changemakers comprises leaders and practitioners from national and grassroots sports, as well as academics, researchers, founders, students and former EWS volunteers. They contribute expertise and personal experience relating to various aspects of intersectionality, including but not limited to gender, race and ethnicity, disability, and LGBTIQ+ inclusion.
Throughout the coming months, participants will take part in online mentoring and learning sessions, exchange experiences and perspectives, discuss practical challenges, and build new professional networks. Through peer support, shared learning and expert input, the programme aims to support participants’ personal and professional growth and strengthen their confidence and capacity to advance equality and inclusion within their own organisations and contexts.
Alongside this individual and collective learning, participants will contribute to the development of a Charter on Making Sport More Inclusive, drawing on the knowledge, experiences and perspectives shared throughout the programme.
A highlight of the programme will be the participation in the European Sport Platform in Split, Croatia. This will provide a first opportunity to connect face-to-face with each other, share knowledge and experiences on equality-related subjects, and enhance them.
Through this Mentoring Programme, ENGSO’s EWS Committee aims to strengthen connections across the European sport movement and support participants in contributing to more inclusive and equal sport environments.
