CHANGE project launches survey on innovation in sport management
The CHANGE consortium has launched a survey to explore change readiness in grassroots sport management across Europe. The findings will shape a new tool to help sport organisations prioritise and implement change effectively.
After completing Phase I of a series of workshops in Denmark, Italy, Catalonia, Latvia, Switzerland, and Ireland, the CHANGE consortium collected data to kick off its research, Challenges and Change Readiness in Grassroot Sport. Building on the results and findings of this initial study, the partners further developed a framework to define and interpret the difficulties, challenges, and barriers to implementing innovation in sport management.
To investigate these issues more deeply, a seven‐minute survey – designed by EASM and MAU and supported by the three CHANGE expert groups – was recently launched. Targeting sport clubs, sport federations, non-profit organisations, commercial sport entities, as well as the public and educational sectors, employees, and volunteers, the survey aims to explore the extent to which change in management and change readiness are prioritized and addressed in the sport world at all levels.
Is change a priority? How difficult is it to implement? When change is lacking, what resources are needed to facilitate the process? Who should lead it?
The analysis of these results, together with the completion of the research and Phase II of the workshops, will not only provide valuable new insights to the scientific literature on sport and change management but also lay the foundation for the project’s final intellectual output: a tool designed to support sport federations and organisations in prioritising and incorporating change into their decision-making processes and daily operations.
This tool will be complemented by various CHANGE-branded initiatives, including webinars, podcasts, videos, and expert interviews.
All final products will be available online and officially presented at the project’s final conference, to be held in October 2025 in Barcelona, hosted by UFEC, N3xt Sports, ENGSO, and the entire consortium.
